Senior Associate Residential Property Solicitor
We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate Solicitor to join our client's busy, client‑focused property team. The successful candidate will lead on a varied caseload of residential property matters, provide high quality legal advice, ensure compliance with regulatory and firm procedures, mentor junior colleagues and contribute to efficient team workflows. This role offers strong opportunities for professional development, exposure to complex residential conveyancing matters including purchases, sales, remortgages, transfers of equity and leasehold work, and may offer hybrid working arrangements depending on team requirements.
Key responsibilities:

Lead legal advice and case management: Take overall responsibility for complex residential property transactions, managing matters end‑to‑end from initial instruction, due diligence and searches through to exchange, completion and post‑completion obligations, ensuring timely progression and clear communication with clients and stakeholders.

Drafting, reviewing and approving documentation: Prepare, review and finalise complex legal documentation including engagement letters, contract packs, transfer deeds, leases, mortgage deeds, SDLT returns and completion statements, ensuring accuracy, commercial awareness and compliance with firm precedents and regulatory requirements.

Regulatory and compliance oversight: Ensure adherence to AML, client identification and other regulatory obligations, maintain audit‑ready files, oversee compliance checks on the team’s matters and contribute to risk management and quality assurance processes.

Stakeholder liaison and negotiation: Correspond and negotiate with clients, estate agents, lenders, surveyors, HM Land Registry, local authorities and other third parties to obtain required documentation, resolve complex queries and manage expectations professionally.

Financial and transactional supervision: Prepare and check completion figures, oversee client account transactions and disbursement requests, support billing and fee recovery and ensure correct handling of client monies in accordance with firm policies.

File management and workflow control: Maintain and update electronic case files, record clear case notes, milestones and actions, use case management systems to monitor deadlines and support efficient file reviews, and ensure team adherence to procedures and SLAs.

Team leadership, training and supervision: Provide supervision, coaching and technical guidance to junior lawyers and support staff, contribute to induction and training activities, delegate effectively and promote knowledge sharing across the team.

Continuous improvement: Identify and drive process improvements, contribute to precedent updates and support the implementation of conveyancing technology and workflow enhancements to increase efficiency and client satisfaction.

Client care and business development: Deliver excellent client service by keeping clients informed, handling complex enquiries, escalating as appropriate and supporting business development initiatives, including maintaining strong professional networks and contributing to referrals.
Key skills and experience required:

Extensive residential property experience: Proven experience handling a wide range of residential transactions including complex sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity and leasehold matters within a law firm or conveyancing practice at Senior Associate or equivalent level.

Technical expertise: Excellent knowledge of HM Land Registry processes, Stamp Duty Land Tax, leasehold issues, complex title matters and mortgage documentation, with the ability to provide pragmatic and commercially aware advice.

Regulatory and risk awareness: Strong understanding of AML requirements, client identification procedures and experience maintaining compliant, audit‑ready files; ability to support and improve team compliance standards.

IT and systems proficiency: Comfortable using case management systems, document management software and Microsoft Office; able to adopt new systems quickly and champion digital process improvements across the team.

Leadership and interpersonal skills: Proactive, accountable and solutions‑focused with excellent communication and negotiation skills, proven ability to supervise and develop others and to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications: Qualified solicitor with relevant experience and a commitment to continuing professional development; higher rights or additional accreditations are desirable but not essential.
