Residential Conveyancer

We are looking for an experienced Residential Conveyancer to join our client's busy and well-regarded Property team. The successful candidate will manage a varied residential property caseload, provide high-quality technical and client-facing services, and deliver excellent client care across conveyancing transactions including sales, purchases, remortgages and leasehold matters. This role offers clear opportunities for professional development and progression within the team.
Key responsibilities:
Handle a varied residential conveyancing caseload including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, new builds and shared ownership transactions.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining clear and timely communication throughout transactions; manage client expectations sensitively and professionally.
Conduct detailed title and document checks, raise and deal with pre-contract enquiries, obtain and review searches, identify issues and advise on practical steps to progress matters.
Prepare, review and exchange contracts, complete pre-completion checks, arrange completion monies and attend to post-completion matters including registration at HM Land Registry.
Liaise with lenders, estate agents, other solicitors, clients and third parties to obtain required information and progress matters efficiently.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date electronic and paper file records, complying with the firm’s risk, compliance and document retention policies; complete time recording and billing information promptly.
Undertake client onboarding, identity verification and Anti-Money Laundering checks in line with firm procedures, maintaining high compliance standards at all times.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, client experience and risk controls within the conveyancing team.
Provide support to more junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practice, and assist with training and supervision where required.
Keep up to date with relevant residential property legislation, Land Registry practice and market developments, applying technical knowledge to client matters.
Key skills and experience required:
Proven experience as a Residential Conveyancer, Licensed Conveyancer, Chartered Legal Executive or solicitor with experience in residential property transactions within a law firm or conveyancing practice.
Strong technical knowledge of residential conveyancing processes, Land Registration, leasehold issues, mortgages, indemnity policies and the related documentation.
Experience managing a varied caseload, prioritising competing demands and meeting deadlines; able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and sensitively to clients, lenders and other stakeholders.
Good numeracy and commercial awareness, with experience handling completion monies, client account procedures and basic financial calculations.
Proactive, collaborative and able to work independently as well as part of a team; commitment to delivering exceptional client care.
Digital literacy, including experience with legal case management systems, HM Land Registry digital services and Microsoft Office; familiarity with electronic conveyancing platforms advantageous.
Strong compliance awareness, including experience of AML checks, identity verification and maintaining confidentiality on sensitive matters.
