Housing Disrepair Solicitor
Our client is searching for an experienced and client-focused professional to become part of their expanding legal team, specifically within the area of housing disrepair.
Key Responsibilities in Housing Disrepair Law
- Independently manage a caseload of housing disrepair claims from initial instruction through from start to finish, ensuring effective and proactive case progression.
- Draft and review legal documents, letters of claim, witness statements, and settlement proposals in line with CPR protocols and legislative requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive case assessments, identifying opportunities for successful resolution and advocating for clients’ interests at every stage.
- Liaise directly with clients, landlords, housing associations, expert witnesses, surveyors, and other stakeholders, providing clear guidance and regular updates.
- Obtain and evaluate expert reports and ensure all evidence is gathered and presented accurately for negotiations and court proceedings.
- Represent clients at court hearings, mediations and settlement meetings, or instruct counsel where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal quality standards, and industry protocols including SRA, GDPR, and anti-money laundering obligations.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date case files, participate in regular team meetings, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
Essential Skills and Experience for Housing Disrepair Solicitor
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales, ideally with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in housing disrepair, property litigation, or residential claims.
- Proven ability to manage independently a busy and varied litigation caseload from pre-action protocol through to court resolution.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills, with meticulous attention to detail in all legal and client-facing work.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating empathy and professionalism in all interactions.
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, solution-focused mindset with a willingness to support wider team goals and deliver outstanding client care.
- IT literate, with experience in using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
