Legal Secretary
We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our legal team. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners across a range of matters, helping to ensure efficient progression of cases and excellent client service. Key responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive secretarial support to fee earners, including word processing, drafting correspondence, preparing legal documents, and formatting court bundles and submissions.
Manage diaries and arrange meetings, conference calls and client appointments; co‑ordinate travel and meeting logistics as required.
Open and maintain matter files on the case management system; ensure accurate upload and indexing of documents, and keep time and task records up to date.
Prepare, proofread and format letters, emails, pleadings, witness statements and other legal documents to a high standard; ensure accuracy and compliance with firm templates and style.
Manage incoming and outgoing post and correspondence, ensure documents are scanned and filed correctly and assist with file closure and post‑completion formalities.
Provide excellent client care by responding promptly to routine enquiries, keeping clients informed of progress and escalating substantive legal issues to fee earners.
Key skills and experience:
Previous experience as a legal secretary, legal PA or similar role within a law firm or legal environment.
Strong secretarial skills including excellent typing, proofreading and formatting ability; confident use of Word and document automation tools.
Experience of using case management systems, email and diary software and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional manner when liaising with clients and third parties.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
