Conveyancing Assistant
We are seeking a reliable and organised Conveyancing Assistant to join our busy residential property team. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality administrative and casework support to fee earners, helping to ensure efficient progression of a varied caseload of residential property transactions. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who wishes to develop their conveyancing career within a modern, supportive law firm.
Key responsibilities:
Assist with the progression of residential conveyancing matters from initial inception to completion, including sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.
Open and maintain matter files on the case management system, ensure accurate upload and indexing of documents, and keep time and task records up to date.
Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, surveyors, other firms and third parties to obtain information, chase enquiries and coordinate completions.
Monitor searches, requisitions, priority dates and mortgage conditions, chase outstanding actions and escalate issues to fee earners as appropriate to maintain progress.
Assist with client money handling, prepare completion financials and work with accounts to ensure funds are received, reconciled and transferred in accordance with practice rules.
Provide excellent client care by keeping clients informed of progress, responding promptly to routine enquiries and updating clients and fee earners of key milestones.
Support fee earners with general administrative tasks such as diary management, bundle preparation, scanning, filing and preparing paperwork for execution and post‑completion formalities.
Key skills and experience:
Previous experience in a conveyancing assistant, legal PA or similar administrative role within a law firm.
Practical knowledge of residential conveyancing procedures including searches, title issues, mortgage conditions, leasehold matters and SDLT/completion accounting.
Confident communicator with good drafting skills and a professional manner when liaising with clients and third parties.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Numerate and comfortable preparing financial statements and handling figures accurately.
Proven experience of using case management systems and Microsoft Office.
