Residential Property Paralegal
We are seeking an experienced and organised residential property paralegal to join a busy central London team. The successful candidate will support fee earners across a varied caseload of sales, purchases and remortgages, providing high-quality legal and administrative assistance to ensure efficient matter progression and excellent client service. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable paralegal who wishes to develop their conveyancing experience within a modern, supportive law firm.

Key responsibilities:

Assist fee earners with the progression of residential conveyancing matters (sales, purchases, remortgages) from instruction to post-completion, ensuring timely updates and excellent client care.

Prepare, review and draft standard documentation including contracts, transfer deeds, completion statements, SDLT returns and client correspondence, ensuring accuracy and version control.

Liaise with clients, mortgage lenders, estate agents, brokers and other third parties to obtain required documentation, chase outstanding information and coordinate completion arrangements.

Open and maintain matter files on the case management system, ensuring all documents are uploaded, indexed correctly and time is recorded accurately.

Carry out Land Registry work and post-completion registration tasks, including preparing and lodging applications via the Land Registry portal and resolving basic title queries.

Order and review property searches and other third-party reports, summarise results for fee earners and highlight any issues requiring attention.

Support AML and client identification procedures by conducting ID checks, maintaining AML records and ensuring compliance with firm processes.

Prepare completion funds paperwork and undertake basic calculations for completion statements; liaise with banks and the firm’s accounts team regarding receipt and disbursement of funds.

Monitor and diarise key dates (exchange, completion, mortgage deadlines), proactively chase actions and keep clients and fee earners informed of progress.

Provide general administrative support including arranging meetings, preparing bundles, scanning, filing and maintaining accurate electronic and physical filing systems.
Key skills and experience:

Previous experience as a paralegal, conveyancing assistant or similar role within a law firm or conveyancing practice, with exposure to residential property transactions.

Good knowledge of residential conveyancing processes (sales, purchases, remortgages) and practical experience of Land Registry procedures.

Proven ability to use case management systems, Land Registry portal, online search providers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Strong attention to detail, good numeracy for preparing financial documentation and an ability to produce accurate written correspondence.

Confident communicator with a professional manner when liaising with clients, colleagues and external parties.

Highly organised, able to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Understanding of AML/client ID requirements and a commitment to maintaining compliance with firm policies and regulatory obligations.

A proactive, team‑oriented approach with a willingness to develop technical conveyancing knowledge and take on increasing responsibility.
