Conveyancing Assistant
Our client with offices in North Manchester are recruiting a Conveyancing Assistant to join its busy residential property team. The role will suit a proactive and organised individual keen to develop a career in conveyancing within a supportive and client-focused environment. Key responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day support to fee earners on a range of conveyancing matters, including residential sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity and wider residential property matters.
Prepare, check and collate paperwork such as contracts, SDLT returns, and completion statements.
Liaise with clients, mortgage brokers, estate agents, search providers and other third parties in a professional and timely manner.
Open and maintain matter files in the case management system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records and time recording.
Carry out property searches, obtain and review title documents, and highlight issues to supervising solicitors/licensed conveyancers.
Assist with reporting to clients, preparing client care letters and managing ID and AML checks.
Support completion processes including drafting completion statements, arranging funds transfer and post-completion registration tasks.
Key skills and experience:
Previous experience in a conveyancing support or paralegal role within a law firm or conveyancing practice.
Familiarity with residential sales, purchases and remortgages; exposure to commercial property is desirable but not essential.
Strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and good numeracy.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with a professional manner when dealing with clients and third parties.
Experience of case management systems, Microsoft Office and online search/land registry portals.
Organised, able to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines under supervision.
Understanding of basic AML and client identification requirements.
Team player with a collaborative and proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop technical conveyancing knowledge.
