Litigation Solicitor
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Solicitor to join our client's busy, Litigation Department. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of civil litigation matters, including Personal Injury, Commercial Disputes, Debt Recovery and Property Litigation.

Salary is up to £60,000 depending on PQE and experience. Hybrid working also available for discussion (Bury Office).
Key responsibilities:
Manage a varied caseload of civil litigation matters from initial instruction through to final resolution, ensuring timely progression, accurate record keeping and clear communication with clients and third parties.
Conduct case assessment and advise clients on merits, strategy, likely costs and timescales, providing pragmatic, risk‑based recommendations tailored to client objectives.
Prepare and file court documents including claims, defences, applications, pleadings, witness statements and bundles, ensuring compliance with Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and court directions.
Manage disclosure and evidence gathering, draft and review disclosure schedules, coordinate disclosure exercises and supervise instruction of experts and third‑party evidence where required.
Handle settlement negotiations, attend and prepare for mediation and other ADR processes, and liaise with counsel to develop advocacy strategy and pleadings for hearings and trials.
Maintain accurate, audit‑ready case files and comply with anti‑money laundering (AML), client identification and other regulatory requirements in line with firm procedures.
Liaise professionally with clients, opposing parties, courts, counsel, expert witnesses and other third parties to obtain documentation, manage deadlines and keep stakeholders informed of progress.
Prepare fee estimates, budgets and disclosure of costs where required, assist with billing and fee recovery, and ensure timely recording of time and costs in the firm's systems.
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, update precedents and support the adoption of case management technology and workflow enhancements.
Provide guidance and supervision to junior colleagues and paralegals where required, sharing technical knowledge and assisting with induction and training activities.
Key skills and experience required:
Qualified solicitor with substantial experience in civil litigation, handling matters in the County Court and High Court, or equivalent contentious work in a law firm (with at least 4 years PQE)
Strong knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules, court practice and litigation processes including disclosure, witness preparation, interlocutory applications and trial preparation.
Proven ability to draft clear, persuasive court documents, legal advice and correspondence, with excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
Demonstrable experience of managing multiple matters and competing priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of client care under pressure.
Confident advocate with strong negotiation skills, able to instruct counsel effectively and represent client interests in ADR and settlement discussions.
Good commercial awareness, practical problem‑solving skills and a proactive, solutions‑focused approach to case management.
Familiarity with case management systems and litigation support technology, and willingness to support digital workflows and process improvements.
