Key responsibilities:

Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to clients, explaining technical issues in plain English and setting realistic expectations throughout the transaction.
Carry out and oversee client identity checks and anti‑money laundering (AML) compliance, ensuring robust audit trails and maintenance of accurate, audit‑ready case files in line with firm procedures.
Prepare, review and negotiate standard documentation including contract packs, transfers, variations, leases, and ensure Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) returns and other statutory filings are completed accurately and on time.
Prepare and check completion statements, manage client account transactions and disbursement requests, and contribute to billing and fee recovery processes in accordance with firm policies.
Liaise professionally with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, surveyors, HM Land Registry, local authorities and other third parties to obtain documentation, resolve issues and progress matters efficiently.
Maintain and update electronic case files, recording clear case notes, milestones and actions, and support file reviews to demonstrate compliance and best practice.
Supervise, mentor and provide practical support to junior fee earners and legal assistants, contributing to induction, training and development activities within the team.
Identify opportunities to improve processes and precedents, support the adoption of conveyancing technology and workflow improvements, and contribute to business development and client retention initiatives.
Key skills and experience required:
Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in residential conveyancing within a law firm or conveyancing practice, handling a range of transaction types.
Strong technical knowledge of residential property law including HM Land Registry practice, leasehold transactions, SDLT and related statutory requirements.
Sound understanding of AML and client identification requirements with experience maintaining compliant, audit‑ready files.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
Confident and professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues and third parties.
Proactive, commercially aware and solutions‑focused, with a commitment to continuous professional development and to supporting team improvements.
Benefits and working arrangements:
Hybrid working model with a mix of office and remote working as agreed with the team.
