Residential Conveyancing / Property Paralegal

Salary £28,000 - £35,000, Hybrid working available
Residential Conveyancing Paralegal: Key Responsibilities in Property Law
- Supporting solicitors and licensed conveyancers with the management of residential property transactions, including freehold, leasehold, new build, shared ownership, and remortgage matters.
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, transfer documents, and completion statements in accordance with current legal requirements and best practice.
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, solicitors, and other third parties to progress transactions efficiently and provide regular updates on case status.
- Conducting title checks, raising and reviewing pre-contract enquiries, and preparing relevant documentation for exchange and completion.
- Assisting with registration of properties at HM Land Registry and ensuring all SDLT returns are timely and accurately submitted.
- Accurately maintaining case files using the firm’s case management systems and ensuring that all actions are fully recorded and comply with SRA, AML, and GDPR requirements.
- Managing own caseload of residential conveyancing files under the supervision of a qualified solicitor or conveyancer, ensuring all deadlines and client expectations are met.
Essential Skills and Experience for Property Paralegal Careers
- At least 12 months’ recent experience as a property paralegal or in a similar legal support role, with specific exposure to residential conveyancing processes.
- Solid understanding of the stages of residential property transactions, with the ability to identify key risks and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise multiple files and work effectively to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and empathy when dealing with clients and external stakeholders.
- Meticulous attention to detail when preparing, reviewing and handling legal documents.
- Confident user of legal case management software and Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new systems and procedures as necessary.
