Salary £60,000 - £80,000, Hybrid working available
Private Client Solicitor: Key Responsibilities
- Managing your own caseload of private client matters, including wills, probate, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney, trusts, and tax planning for a diverse client base.
- Drafting and reviewing legal documentation such as wills, trust deeds, LPAs, and probate applications in line with current legal requirements and best practice.
- Delivering a client-focused service—providing clear updates, tailored advice, and maintaining the highest levels of empathy, professionalism, and discretion throughout client interactions.
- Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, HMRC, and other third parties to progress matters efficiently and accurately.
- Conducting legal research and staying current with legislative changes affecting private client law, tax, and trusts to ensure compliance and excellent client outcomes.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records using case management systems and ensuring all files comply with SRA, AML, and GDPR regulations.
- Supporting the development of junior staff and contributing to knowledge sharing within the team, as appropriate.
Essential Skills and Experience for a Private Client Solicitor
- Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales, with demonstrable post-qualification experience in a private client department.
- Proven track record of independently managing and progressing private client files, including wills, probate, trusts, and estate planning matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to handle sensitive issues with tact and build lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Proficient use of legal case management systems and Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn and utilise new technologies as required.
