Key Responsibilities in Family Law Support
- Supporting solicitors on a wide caseload of family law matters, including divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements, domestic abuse, and cohabitation disputes.
- Drafting, preparing, and reviewing legal documentation such as petitions, witness statements, consent orders, financial disclosure forms, and court bundles to a high standard.
- Managing case files, ensuring all relevant documents, correspondence, and attendance notes are properly maintained and up to date on the case management system.
- Liaising professionally with clients, counsel, courts, experts, and other relevant parties throughout all stages of a matter to support a timely and satisfactory resolution.
- Undertaking legal research, preparing chronologies, and assisting with the preparation of court papers and hearing bundles.
- Ensuring compliance with the SRA, GDPR, and other regulatory standards at every stage of the case.
- Demonstrating a high level of client care when supporting individuals through sensitive and often challenging circumstances.
Essential Skills & Experience for a Family Law Paralegal Role
- Minimum of 12 months’ experience supporting family law matters within a law firm or related legal environment.
- A solid understanding of family law processes, the Family Procedure Rules, and relevant forms and protocols.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines.
- Clear and professional communication skills—written and verbal—with an ability to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
- Demonstrable attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving within a fast-paced team environment.
- Proficiency in using legal case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
