Key Responsibilities for Head of Training – Legal Sector
- Designing, implementing, and delivering comprehensive legal training and development programmes across the firm, aligning with regulatory and business objectives.
- Conducting thorough training needs analysis by collaborating with department leads to identify knowledge gaps and skill development areas within teams such as Residential Conveyancing, Real Estate, Litigation, Family and Private Client Law
- Developing engaging in-house training materials, webinars, workshops, and e-learning content tailored to various legal practice areas and levels of experience.
- Overseeing the firm’s continuing professional development (CPD) framework, ensuring mandatory training, regulatory updates, and compliance courses are completed on schedule.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of training interventions, tracking and reporting outcomes, and making recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Coordinating with external training providers and accrediting bodies to maintain the firm’s reputation for excellence and to foster team members' progression.
- Promoting a culture of learning, inclusivity, and professional growth throughout the organisation.
- Ensuring all training activities are compliant with SRA and CLC regulations and industry best practice in anti-money laundering (AML) and data protection.
Essential Skills and Experience for Legal Training Leadership
- Experienced training manager with a strong legal sector background (minimum 5 years’ experience preferred), or a Qualified Legal Professional with experience in creating, implementing and monitoring learning and development
- Proven experience of developing, delivering, and managing legal training programmes within a law firm or legal services provider.
- Up-to-date understanding of legal regulatory requirements, CPD obligations, and best practice in legal education.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with a supportive and approachable manner suited to coaching and mentoring diverse professionals.
- Excellent organisational and project management abilities with a keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
- Demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion within a professional environment.
- Proficiency in utilising legal practice management software, digital learning platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
